Buns

We learnt to make a bun that looks like it is wrapped around a doughnut without using for one which was a very useful skill to learn as it is quick and simple and perfect for if someone ever requires you to be able to do one and you are not prepared with a doughnut.

Equipment:
- Paddle brush
- Tail comb
- Hair band
- Grips and pins

Step by steps:
- I tied the hair up into a high ponytail after brushing it through and secured the ponytail with a hairband
- I then split the ponytail into four sections and backcombed each section to the root
- I then took each section and curled it round into a loop and secured with grips and pins
- Once all the sections had been pinned into place I spread the hair around evenly to get rid of gaps and make it appear as if there is a doughnut underneath

I didn't have time to do the bun in class as I spent the whole lesson practising plaiting so I did it at home in my free time.
Here are some pictures of buns that I have found on the internet that look like they are influenced by Elizabethan hair styling and also some portraits which show women of the time wearing their hair with a bun at the back.
