Curling

Curling is used a lot in Elizabethan hairstyles to decorate the look, we were taught and practised the basic skill which we will be using when attempting Elizabethan and contemporary Elizabethan hairstyles.

Equipment:
- Paddle brush
- Tail comb
- Section clips
- Curling tongs

How to curl:
- I started by brushing my dolly heads hair through until it was knot-free and then used my tail comb and section clips to section the hair into smaller sections so it was easier to work with
- To curl I took a piece of hair and secured the tip with the clasp on the curling tong and wound the hair in the direction away from the face around the wand until it was all wrapped around
- I then loosened the grasp of the clasp and used my fingers to slide the hair up and off the tongs in one piece to create a tighter ringlet
- I repeated this with all other sections of hair until the whole head was curled

Below are some images that are influenced by the Elizabethan hair styles and have curling used as a technique to decorate and add texture to the style.
